March 28, 2010

My first trip to the zoo. Unfortunately Mommy and Daddy forgot the camera so the phone photos aren't the best.

Mesmerized by the turtle....

Mesmerized by Gavin...

Gavin: "Hey Parker, I double dog dare you to try to put your whole fist in your mouth."
Parker: "You're on!"

Pretty good...

Even better....

As close as I'm gonna get!

Speaking of Zowie in yesterday's post...

As usual, Zowie tends to her "baby" while Mommy tends to me.

After she has properly given her baby a "bath" she typically drops it on my hand or tummy. Thanks for sharing your baby with me Zowie!

Good Old Zowie. She's been right by Gavin and my side throughout our sick spring. Whoever is the most sick is who she lays right next to.

The new antibiotics are working and I'm feeling better although a bit worn out.

March 23, 2010

When will I ever get over RSV? I've had a bit of a relapse and a new ear infection to go with it. My oxygen wasn't 100% but it wasn't low enough to rush to the ER again either. Mommy will monitor me tonight and we'll get rechecked in the morning. Hopefully the new antibiotics will take care of it.

I'm practicing my American Idol audition to some rocking Christmas music...

For some reason, Mommy thought this was just too cute not to share. I crossed my adorable pudgy baby legs on my own just like Mommy.

Being sick hasn't appeared to slow me down one bit!

March 18, 2010

Doctor Mommy has prescribed me fresh air and sunlight. I don't know if it will help, but at least it's better than that drab old hospital bed!

March 17, 2010

Mommy's friends Emily and Ben sent this up from the hospital gift shop. Can you tell how much I LOVE it?!? Thank you!!

We're going home tonight! It was a last minute decision. The doctor's said I could go. The nurses said to stay. Mommy made the final decision - hope her instincts are right! Shhh....we're going to surprise Daddy and Gavin. Think they'll be surprised to see us?

(As it turns out we ran into Daddy and Gavin on the road driving home, so we didn't get to see their expression when Mommy and I came home.)

I'm on the mend and eager to tell you all about my week...

Daddy came to visit me tonight. He and Gavin have had a rough week too. Mommy loves how little my hand looks in Daddy's.

March 15, 2010

The staff at Children's brought me a balloon today. It was a much needed touch of color in an otherwise drab hospital room. I had fun playing with Uncle Todd when he came to visit me. He actually got a smile out of me although I was having a little trouble breathing (You may not be able to notice, but if you look at the elephant on my clothes you might be able to see how hard my little chest is working at breathing).

Another bright note, the bandage on my hand has made thumb sucking quite easy!

You better believe that I take full advantage of my thumb's freedom!

The cords have also been a source of comfort to me. I hang on to them constantly! Who needs a blankie or teddy bear when they have a cord that is the perfect size for my fist?

Best part of Mommy's day? I smiled a few times today. It made her whole day!

March 14, 2010

Still in Children's Hospital today and I was definitely due for a bath. Mommy's favorite nurse brought in a tub for me. We were kind of limited on where to have the bath because of all my cords, so we plopped it on the bed. I may not be smiling much, but I seemed to enjoy it more than anything else in days!

The doctors came in shortly after my bath and decided that I needed an IV for fluids. It was a nightmare. Each nurse is allowed 3 tries to get the IV in place. If they don't get it in 3 tries then they have to call in a new person to try. They didn't get it in place until 3 nurses later (3 nurses times 3 tries each). I wasn't the only one crying. Mommy was a wreck and Daddy had to leave the room. Mommy doesn't think there is anything worse than watching your child in pain.

With the IV line in, I was able to relax in the vibrating chair, which actually really helped me to cough - a good thing, when you're trying to clear the lungs for breathing.

Another super nurse brought in a couple of books for Mommy to read to me before bed. It was another happy point in my day. I really, really enjoyed them. Here I am finally asleep (at least until they come and check in on me in a little bit). Doesn't my crib look like something that ought to be in NASA?

March 13, 2010

Mommy and Daddy had to take both Gavin and I to the ER on 11th. Gavin's fever was way too high and he was super lethargic. I was breathing way too rapidly - quick, shallow breaths. Daddy wasn't convinced that we needed to go in, but Mommy's radar was going off and she over-ruled him! Good thing too. We both have RSV. I had to be admitted over night for monitoring. By the next afternoon (the 12th), my oxygen was dipping too low and it just wouldn't stay up where it needed to be so they had to start me on oxygen.

March 10, 2010

Look at the photos of me yesterday versus today. Pretty drastic, isn't it? Mommy brought Gavin and me into the doctor because Gavin's fever was so high and I am coughing a lot. When they listened to my lungs, there was some wheezing. So they put me on this neubulizer. It seemed to help a little bit. As if I'm not sleeping bad enough, now Mommy is supposed to wake me up every 3-4 hours to give me the breathing treatment. Of course, she won't sleep a wink because she's going to constantly be worried that I'm not getting oxygen!

March 7, 2010

Mommy was making dinner tonight and I was under Daddy's watch.

Daddy propped me up while he got Gavin a glass of juice.

By the time he got back, this is how he found me!

After a hard morning of playing outside, I just didn't have the energy to get out of my snowsuit!
